Waffle Christmas stocking crochet pattern
Thanks for checking out my waffle Christmas stocking crochet pattern. I hope you love it as much as I do! So, I wanted to make sentimental gifts for my family and decided on Christmas stockings! Firstly Christmas stockings are timeless, and secondly they are a massive part of the Christmas tradition. Above all a handmade, good quality stocking could be treasured for years to come and also be handed down through generations.
Christmas stocking description
The crochet pattern will help you create a festive Christmas stocking with a lovely thick texture using the waffle stitch. The completed stocking will measure 17” x 6”. So I would describe it as a full sized Christmas stocking, the perfect size to hang over your fireplace ready to be filled with gifts.
How it’s made
The waffle Christmas stocking is worked up in one piece, as a result you can complete the project faster without fussing over the heel. To make the stocking I used Aran (weight 4) yarn and a 5mm crochet hook. In this case I used cotton but other fibres such as acrylic would also work with this crochet pattern. Of course, you will also need some handmade or ready made pom-poms to decorate your stocking. To conclude this crochet pattern is intermediate skill level. In order to complete the project you’ll need to know basic crochet stitches and also the bobble stitch. In addition you will also need to know how to work into front/back loops and posts.

Gauge / Tension
Gauge is important as everyone crochets with a different tension. Therefore, if your 2” swatch doesn’t match up you can change your hook size to suit your tension.
5mm hook – 2” x 2” square = 5 rows of 7 hdc
Pattern notes
I do not count chains in my stitch count.
Numbers in brackets are the number of rounds/stitches.
Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces eg. (sc, inc) would mean sc in first stitch then inc in next stitch.
