Suzette Stitch Crochet Tutorial

The Suzette stitch is a very easy 1 row repeat made with the single and double crochet stitches. It’s reversible, fast and easy and gives a lovely texture.

Suzette stitch description

The Suzette stitch is reversible and looks identical on both sides making it ideal for scarves and blankets. It has a lovely bumpy texture and can be used for almost anything!

How it’s made

The Suzette stitch crochet tutorial is beginner to easy skill level. Its a very basic one row repeat. To complete the tutorial you will need to know the single crochet stitch and the double crochet stitch. You will also be skipping stitches and working two stitches in one space. You can use any yarn with its recommended crochet hook size to complete the tutorial.

  • Any yarn
  • Crochet hook recommended for your yarn


USA Terminology

  • ch – Chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc – Single crochet

Pattern notes

  • Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces eg. (sc, dc) would mean sc in first stitch then dc in next stitch.
  • Make a small swatch of the suzette stitch and measure the size before beginning a large project.

Use any yarn with the recommended hook.

Row 1
  • ch multiples of 2 for desired length then start in the 2nd chain from the hook
  • sc & dc in same ch, skip 1 chain: repeat until 2 chains remaining
  • sc & dc in last chain
  • ch & turn
Row 2
  • sc & dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch: repeat until 2 stitches remaining
  • sc in last stitch
  • ch & turn
Row 3+
  • Repeat row 2 until you reach desired size
  • Fasten off & weave in ends.
