Rainbow Christmas stocking crochet pattern
Thanks for checking out my rainbow Christmas stocking crochet pattern. So, I asked my daughters what Christmas stockings they’d like this year and they both replied ‘rainbow!’. Hardly surprising, they’ve been a little rainbow obsessed this year, as have most of the world. We had great fun going for walks in the spring of 2020 and counting the rainbows in peoples windows. With this in mind I designed and made the rainbow Christmas stocking. I hope you love it as much as they do!
Rainbow stocking description
The rainbow Christmas stocking features a little rainbow at the toe and a big, beautiful rainbow striped bow. It’s a full sized Christmas stocking with plenty of room for little gifts. To be exact it measures 7” x 16” at its widest points.
How it’s made
The rainbow Christmas stocking crochet pattern is easy skill level. You’ll need to know all your basic crochet stitches and must be able to change colours. You’ll also need to know how to make simple increases. The Christmas stocking is made in one piece so there’s no fussing about sewing on the heel. That being said, you will have to make the bow separately and sew it on. To crochet the Christmas stocking I used a 6mm crochet hook and Aran (weight 4) yarn. I used white as my main colour and 4 different rainbow colours. To summarise the crochet stocking is very easy and fast to make and will definitely put a smile on any child’s (or adults) face this Christmas.

Gauge / Tension
Gauge is important as everyone crochets with a different tension. Therefore, if your 2” swatch doesn’t match up you can change your hook size to suit your tension.
6mm hook = 5 rows of 6 hdc
Finished size = 16” x 7” / 41cm x 18cm
Pattern notes
I do not count chains in my stitch count.
Numbers in brackets are the number of rounds/stitches.
Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces eg. (sc, inc) would mean sc in first stitch then inc in next stitch.
Make ALL colour changes when making the joining slip stitch on the previous round.
Supplies
You will need the following supplies to complete the crochet project (links will take you directly to my recommended supplies)

Assembly
Fold the bow into a W shape and squeeze through the centre loop.
Align your bow in the centre of the stripy section of the stocking.

Using yarn colour D (turquoise) sew the bow onto your stocking. You will need to sew across the whole bow to ensure it doesn’t flop when hanging up. Only sew through the back section of the bow for a neater finish.
Your rainbow Christmas stocking is now complete.
